PAST: Give Back Day
Presented by Stop & Shop

We're excited to host our 3rd annual Give Back Day on Saturday, January 4th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Help us spread the love, warm a few hearts, and have some fun this winter season!

In addition to the Rhode Island Blood Center on hand, the first 50 guests to stop by the Newport Waterfront Events booth at the Rink will receive a reusable Stop & Shop bag filled with goodies courtesy of Stop & Shop. Did you know just one reusable bag can keep up to 375 plastic bags out of landfills over its lifetime? This is just a small YOU can help give back.

Donate a pint of blood to the Rhode Island Blood Center. Since 2005, skaters helped over 120 patients in our community by making 40 donations! This year, the RIBC team will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help us reach our goal of collecting 13 pints, which could potentially help almost 40 patients. Donors will receive their choice of a skate-for-free pass to the Newport Skating Center or a free 1lb. bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee.

The RIBC was founded 30 years ago to provide a safe, adequate and cost-effective blood supply for the patients and hospitals they serve. Each and every donor makes a difference, because just one pint of blood has the power to save up to three lives. Please give the gift of life--give blood. Visit for more information and to learn what you can do to help this important cause.

Our Give Back Day also features free sponsor sampling and kids’ activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a free hot cocoa for every skater. We thank everyone who has participated in the past and hope to see you all this year!

PAST: Amica Insurance Coat Drive

The rink’s popular coat drive returns to help Newport families in need with last year’s collection reaching over 200 coats! This year’s donations will be made to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and Child & Family of Middletown. Those who donate a new or gently used coat will receive 2-for-1 admission that can be used anytime this season. Help others get warm and cozy this winter!

Take your best dance moves out on the ice, as DJ Sam LoPiccolo of BeyondBeats returns for four consecutive Friday nights! On January 17th, 24th, 31st, and February 7th from 6 – 8 p.m. (weather-permitting), DJ Sam will be spinning classic tunes and taking personal requests live as you glide around the ice.
