Give Back Day presented by Stop & Shop: Saturday, January 5
We're excited to host our 2nd annual Give Back Day on Saturday, January 5th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Help us spread the love, warm a few hearts, and have some fun this winter season! Participate by:
1. Donating a coat. Support the Amica Coat Drive, benefiting the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. On this day last year, over 30 coats were collected and passed along to this amazing organization, which supports many in our Newport community. We're offering a Skate-for-Free pass (good for one skate admission at the Newport Skating Center) in exchange for each coat donated on January 5th. If you can’t make it, you are welcome to drop the coat off anytime the Skating center is open and receive a free cup of hot cocoa!
2. Donate $1 to benefit the Special Olympics of Rhode Island. The Newport Skating Center will match all donations up to $500!
3. Donate a pint of blood to the Rhode Island Blood Center. Last year skaters helped over 30 patients in Rhode Island by donating 11 pints of blood! This year, the RIBC team will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help us reach our goal of collecting 13 pints, which could potentially help almost 40 patients. Donor’s will receive their choice of a skate-for-free pass to the Newport Skating Center or a free 1lb. bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee.
The RIBC was founded 30 years ago to provide a safe, adequate and cost-effective blood supply for the patients and hospitals they serve. Each and every donor makes a difference, because just one pint of blood has the power to save up to three lives. Please give the gift of life--give blood. Visit RIBC.org for more information and to learn what you can do to help this important cause.
Our Give Back Day also features kids activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., free sponsor sampling, and a free hot cocoa for every skater. We thank everyone who has participated in the past and hope to see you all this year!
